FAQs

Everything you need to know about Lili

How do I open a Lili account?

Open a Lili account in less than 3 minutes here and download the Lili app here. Your card should arrive 7 business days after opening your account.

What makes Lili different from other banking services?

No hidden fees, easy set-up (get an account in 3 minutes), 24/7 access via our intuitive mobile app, no withdrawal fees from ATMs across the US (fees from ATM owner or other banks still apply), data-driven insights that help you manage your money, a debit card that gives back with Lili Visa SavingsEdge rewards, special functionality tailored to the unique needs of independent workers (like the ability to easily categorize business and personal expenses or automatically set aside a portion of every deposit into a sub-account for tax season) – all for free. Need we go on?

What does it cost to open a Lili account?

Absolutely nothing. Opening a Lili account is completely free, and there won’t be any surprises once you start to use your account either – no monthly service charges, no minimum balances, no hidden fees.

Will Lili be available outside of the U.S.?

No. For the moment Lili will only be available in the U.S. If you’re not in one of the 50 states, stay tuned though, because we do plan to expand to more regions.

Can anyone get a Lili account?

Lili is specifically designed for independent workers and small business owners, so in order to get a Lili account, at least some of your income should come from alternative sources like freelance or gig work, a shop on Etsy or eBay or another kind of small business. Other than that, as long as you have a social security number and a U.S. address you’re good to go!

Are Lili accounts FDIC insured?

Lili bank accounts are insured up to the standard maximum deposit insurance amount of $250,000 through our partner, Choice Bank, Member FDIC.

How does Lili protect my money and data?

There is nothing more important than protecting your information and privacy. In addition to being FDIC insured, we have multiple layers of security both on our website and within the Lili app to ensure that no bad actor will ever be able to access your account or data. Think of us as the digital version of one of those massive bank vaults – one foot of reinforced steel and guards at every corner. No one is getting in if they’re not supposed to. There are important things you should do to keep things secure on your end as well. Make sure you choose passwords that only you will know and if you have access to more sophisticated technology like Touch ID or facial recognition, use it!

Can I set up an account with an EIN?

We’ll only be able to set up accounts with SSNs. If you have a company with an EIN, you can still set up an account, but it will have to be under your name and social security number. The ability to create an account with an EIN will be added later though, so stay tuned.

How do I add Lili to my Apple Pay Wallet?
